Public Relations for Your Business

blog May 02, 2022

RANDom thought: Look at me, look at me, look at me!

What exactly is the definition of public relations? According to Wikipedia:

Public relations (PR) is the practice of managing and disseminating information from an individual or an organization (such as a businessgovernment agency, or a nonprofit organization) to the public in order to affect their public perception. Public relations (PR) and publicity differ in that PR is controlled internally, whereas publicity is not controlled and contributed by external parties. [1] Public relations may include an organization or individual gaining exposure to their audiences using topics of public interest and news items that do not require direct payment.

How does one go about getting positive PR?

I have a few ideas, and this week’s podcast guest, Allie Martin, owner of Fame and Fortune, shares six tips on how to go about being more visible.

My best advice on this topic is to act! Even when you may not know where to begin, do something. It doesn’t all have to be figured out and perfect.

When I began my business, I made a list of 50 people I wanted to meet with to let them know what I was up to. I spent several months having coffees and lunches to tell people about my new business. I wasn’t selling anything to them.

And four years later, I am still getting business from some of those meetings.

Listen to this week’s podcast and commit to taking one action that Allie recommends. She is offering a class for $27.00 to do a deeper dive into the six tips if you want more. You can check it out by clicking here

So go out there and shine!

I will discuss this topic more on FB live at my Career Cultivators site on Wednesday at 11:30. Join me there!
