Making mistakes at work

RANDom thought: mistakes are okay, just not the same ones over and over

Fact: you are human and will make mistakes at work. The question is, how do you handle it when it happens. Covering it up is never a good idea!
The first thing to do is to take a deep breath. Unless you are a brain surgeon, you probably have not made a life-ending mistake. The second step is to own up to the error. I don’t mean simply saying, “I made a mistake.” I mean to own up to it to whoever needs to know and have a solution or remedy ready to implement.
The sooner you make the powers to be aware, the sooner you can move forward.
All of this is assuming you have an understanding boss. If your boss does not allow mistakes, that is a blog for another day. However, the steps outlined above are still relevant. Even from a non-understanding boss, covering your mistake up is never a good idea.
The bottom line here is not to beat yourself up over mistakes. They happen, and life goes on. The key is to admit when you make a mistake, fix it, and move forward.

That’s all my advice for today!
